-For my year on a Graduate Intern Visa, I worked as the Assistant Site Director and also as a Teaching Artist in BSI-TOATS (The Academy of Talented Scholars) in Brooklyn. I was hired by Wingspan Arts and predominantly taught writing and performance-based classes. There is currently a surplus of one hundred and eighty students in this program. I also co-managed the site phone and email system, handled a lot of program administration (sign in/out sheets, lesson plans, incident reports, pay roll, office communication, substitute teachers), coordinated the classes and assisted teaching staff.
-I worked as a Comedy/Improv/Writing Teacher in 'Long Lake Camp for the Arts' for two years. I thoroughly enjoyed this and produced many excellent students. In my second year, I was promoted to 'Head of Department' and I managed a staff of five people. We produced a three hour long showcase every three weeks for parents and campers, that were always very well attended. As the camp accommodated students of immense talent in many different areas, there were weekly talent shows. I would prepare the emcees by honing their comedy writing and performance skills, in collaboration with the improv teacher. -I founded a new performing arts style, titled 'stand-up commedia' that blends the craft of stand-up comedy with the practices of commedia dell'arte. The aspiration would be to create a healthy, physically-routed environment to practice stand-up comedy. I have delivered workshops on this in various institutions including Trinity College, Dublin, the RCSI, Clonakilty Organic Arts Festival and I am continuing to develop it.
